Notes​

Debian 10 with the LXDE graphical environment is very light and fast, however, some PCs have problems with video card drivers and because of this, during playback of high-resolution videos with dynamically changing scenes, the tearing effect is noticeable. This effect is not a problem of the VISIOBIOX player. It does not bother everyone or always. What is tearing link see at the 20th second. How to fix: each hardware platform requires its own recipe.

⚠️⚠️⚠️NTP

Attention! If you use Raspberry, you need to remember that they lack a real-time clock battery. This means that when power is disconnected, the time will be reset. Correct time will be set only if there is access to the NTP specified in the operating system. If Raspberry does not have internet access, you need to set a local NTP in the operating system.

Instructions for Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop setup​

This instruction will also be relevant for earlier versions of Ubuntu Desktop

  1. Install OS (OS Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, set login, password)
  2. Set correct timezone and time
  3. Configure screen rotation (relevant for vertical screens)
  4. Set up autologin on startup (!)
  5. Additional settings
    • Disable screensaver appearance
    • Configure screen rotation (relevant for vertical)
    • Disable notifications
  6. Install the player

Installing Oohdesk CMS player​

Attention! Without SUDO

In console, insert:
wget -O /tmp/visiobox.sh https://visiobox.cloud/dist/linux-x64/visiobox.sh && chmod +x /tmp/visiobox.sh && /tmp/visiobox.sh.

Attention! Without SUDO insert into the terminal window the line
wget -O /tmp/visiobox.sh https://visiobox.cloud/dist/linux-x64/visiobox.sh && chmod +x /tmp/visiobox.sh && /tmp/visiobox.sh (instead of https://visiobox.cloud put your server address if you have your own) Installation will be fully automatic. After installation, a shortcut will appear on the desktop. Right-click it and select Allow Launching.

Also, the player autostarts on OS boot. You can close the player with ALT+F4. To start it again: click the shortcut on the desktop or restart the OS.

Run the player (either click the shortcut on the desktop or restart the OS).

Press CTRL+N. The configurator will appear.

  • Change the server address to yours (1)
  • Click APPLY (2)
  • Close the configurator (3)

Enter the PIN code issued in CMS (without spaces) and press ENTER.

The player will receive content and start playing it.
